“Tapped” is a film that examines the role of the bottled water industry and its effects on health, climate change, pollution, and reliance on oil.

Even beyond the issues of your health and the environment, bottled water represents a novel form of privatization, in which private corporations have succeeded, and quite successfully I might add, at making water a commodity.
I would say, and I suspect you would agree, that water is more a “right” than it is a commodity. And private corporations should have no more control over the selling of water than they do the selling of our air supplies. Well, this is already occurring to some extent as corporations make a profit selling water -- which at times even makes water less available to the people living in the area.
Even public water supplies are being increasingly taken over by private corporations, and in some areas of the world are up for grabs by the highest bidder.
This has been publicized in countries such as Bolivia, where residents battled police and the military to protect their water rights from the US-based Bechtel Corporation, but you should know water privatization initiatives are being pushed all over the world … including in the United States.

Getting back to bottled water, however, many, many Americans still drink it, believing it is somehow healthier than tap water.
In 2008, U.S. bottled water consumption reached nearly 9 billion gallons, raking in revenues of more than $11 billion.
Folks, this is for a “product” you can get virtually for free by turning on your kitchen tap!

Are You Paying 1,900 Times More for Unhealthy, Earth-Damaging Water?

If you drink bottled water, yes, you are!
Bottled water typically costs more than $1.50 per bottle, which is 1,900 times the price of tap water.
Yet, that very same bottled water that you’re paying a premium for is, in about 40 percent of cases, simply bottled tap water, which may or may not have received any additional treatment.

On top of that, most municipal tap water must actually adhere to more strict purity standards than the bottled water industry. Further, while the EPA requires large public water supplies to test for contaminants as often as several times a day, the FDA requires private bottlers to test for contaminants only once a week, once a year, or once every four years, depending on the contaminant.

An independent test performed by the Environmental Working Group revealed 38 low-level contaminants in bottled water, with each of the 10 tested brands containing an average of eight chemicals including disinfection byproducts (DBPs), caffeine, Tylenol, nitrate, industrial chemicals, arsenic, and bacteria were all detected.

So what you are paying for is often no different, or even worse, than the water that comes out of your faucet.
When you factor in other elements, like the chemicals that can leach from the plastic bottle and its impact on the environment, bottled water becomes a losing proposition no matter how you look at it.

Drinking From Plastic Bottles is Not a Wise Health Move

When drinking bottled water you need to think not only about the water but also about the bottle itself. Plastic is not an inert substance as its manufacturers would like you to believe. It contains chemicals like BPA and phthalates, which mimic hormones in your body.
Even tiny concentrations can cause problems such as:

Structural damage to your brain
Hyperactivity, increased aggressiveness, and impaired learning
Increased fat formation and risk of obesity
Altered immune function
Early puberty, stimulation of mammary gland development, disrupted reproductive cycles, and ovarian dysfunction
Changes in gender-specific behavior, and abnormal sexual behavior
Stimulation of prostate cancer cells

US To Begin Drugging Water Supplies To Pacify Restless Population

An ominous report circulating in the Kremlin today is warning that the United States is preparing to execute a plan to begin the mass drugging of their citizens so as to achieve a ‘higher level of control’ over them as their elite rulers fear their Nation is close to erupting into civil war as their slide into the economic abyss continues unabated.

According to this report, President Obama has ordered his Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulators to begin establishing the ‘acceptable levels’ of drugs allowed into the US drinking water supply, which the Associated Press reported on last year warning that at least 51 million Americans were already being affected by minute concentrations of a multitude of dangerous drugs already existing in their supplies of this most critical of life sustaining needs for human beings.

But to the worst of these dangerous drugs soon to be regulated into the drinking water of these Americans, this report continues, is one of the most mind altering substances ever known called Lithium Salts which are a waste byproduct in the production of Lithium batteries deemed essential to freeing the US from its long dependency on oil, and are “used medically as a mood stabilizing drug, primarily in the treatment of bipolar disorder, where they have a role in the treatment of depression and particularly of mania, both acutely and in the long term.”

Most chillingly the US mainstream propaganda media has begun what this report states is an ‘advanced re-education’ campaign for the Lithium drugging of their population through their water supply by touting the supposed benefits for this mass drugging in its being able to lower their rates of suicide and depression.

Japanese researchers from Oita University in Japan had previously this past spring published their findings on Lithium in the British Journal of Psychiatry and stated in their report that the suicide rate was significantly lower in communities whose water contained larger amounts of this dangerous drug and leading other researchers to call for further study to consider the public health benefits of adding lithium to drinking water supplies like the Americans are now doing.

This report, however, states that the real truth behind the West’s and Japan’s ‘push’ to add Lithium to their citizens water supplies has nothing to do with the health of their citizens and more to do with these Nations ability to handle the massive amounts of toxic lithium waste from the Renault-Nissan lithium battery plants under construction in Smyrna, Tennessee (to supply all of North America), Portugal (to supply all of Europe), and Japan.

Note: Lithium is a soft, silver-white metal that belongs to the alkali metal group of chemical elements. It is represented by the symbol Li, and it has the atomic number three. Under standard conditions it is the lightest metal and the least dense solid element.

Worse still for the American people is that an FSB addendum to this reports states that the US has been ‘secretly’ adding large amounts of Lithium to their citizens drinking water supplies for nearly 18 years, and which they say has caused an ‘explosion’ of obesity, thyroid disease, and autism among Americans as lithium is known to be responsible for significant amounts of weight gain, thyroid destruction and child defects.

Interesting to note about these current events leading to the adding of the lithium drug to the American drinking water supply is that it exactly mirrors those which occurred last century when Oscar Ewing, lead counsel for ALCOA, the World’s largest aluminum producer and fluoride polluter, being appointed to the US government where he then ordered that America’s water supplies be ‘fluoridated’ with what is essentially a waste product used previously for the killing of rats, but is also one of the most potent mind altering-conditioning substances ever discovered and called the “Lunatic Drug”.

The use of fluoride in drinking water was pioneered by the Nazi Germans who found that by “mass-medicating water with sodium fluoride they were able to sterilize humans and force the people in their concentration camps into calm submission.” Also, United States Air Force Major George R. Jordan testified before Un-American Activity committees of Congress in the 1950's that in his post as U.S.-Soviet liaison officer, the Soviets openly admitted to “using the fluoride in the water supplies in their gulags (concentration camps), to make the prisoners stupid, docile, and subservient.”

This report further warns that the United States ‘plan’ to drug their entire population with Lithium is behind their move to Federalize every drop of water (including rain water) making it illegal for any of their citizens to use anything but ‘government approved’ water supplies, and which we had previously reported on in our May 8, 2009 report “Chilling New Law Gives US Government Ownership Of All Water In Nation”.

To the fears of the elite classes in the United States of their citizens openly revolting against them the evidence remains overwhelming as tens-of-millions of these peoples are forced into abject poverty while their political, propaganda media, banking and industrial barons continue to reap untold hundreds of billions of dollars in their continued effort to destroy their own Nation.

Even worse (and not just for Americans but for everyone in the World) are that American researchers from US universities UC Berkeley and Penn State are also now warning that “the wheels are already turning on Earth's sixth mass extinction”, a most dire situation for which, once again, these people are showing no effort to either understand or attempt to stop.

So, and as millions of these Americans begin their Christmas Holiday celebrations, they continue to ignore what many experts warn will be the “Financial Armageddon of 2010” as our World runs out of food, but which with this new report becomes understandable because like the ‘sheeple’ they have become they wait for nothing more than to be led to the killing fields for slaughter while their drug filled minds are never quite comprehending what is truly happening to them.

The new, rare strain has killed 1 in 4 infected, researchers say

A deadly, airborne new strain of fungus has emerged in Oregon. It has killed nearly one out of four known affected people so far and might also attack animals ranging from dogs to dolphins. And it is likely to spread, researchers now warn.

The new strain known as VGIIc of the fungus Cryptococcus gattii not only targets humans but has also proven capable of infecting dogs, cats, alpacas, sheep and elk. Other strains have even infected porpoises.

Although it can spread to mammals, it does not jump from animal to animal. Instead, people and other animals get it from inhaling spores released by samples of the fungus that infect trees.

"It's in the environment, and we're exposed to the environment," researcher Edmond Byrnes III of Duke University Medical Center told LiveScience. "And the environmental range of this has been expanding."

Potential to spread
While scientists aren't sure how the highly infectious or virulent fungus emerged in Oregon, they caution the new strain now looks set to expand to California and other neighboring areas.

"This novel fungus is worrisome because it appears to be a threat to otherwise healthy people," Byrnes said. "Typically, we more often see this fungal disease associated with transplant recipients and HIV-infected patients, but that is not what we are seeing yet."
Symptoms can appear two or more months after exposure. Most people never develop symptoms, but those infected may have a cough lasting weeks, sharp chest pain, shortness of breath, headache related to meningitis, fever, nighttime sweats and weight loss.

In animals the symptoms are a runny nose, breathing problems, nervous system problems and raised bumps under the skin.

Treatment requires months to years of antifungal medications, and even surgery to remove the large masses of the fungus known as cryptococcomas that can develop in the body. So far it cannot be prevented, as there is no vaccine.

Origin unknown
The fungus C. gattii was originally linked with eucalyptus trees in tropical and subtropical climates. It first caused an outbreak in temperate climes on Vancouver Island in 1999 that has now spread into Washington and Oregon, where it infects local trees.

This earlier strain, VGIIa/major, has killed nearly 9 percent of 218 patients.
After comparing the genes of the new VGIIc strain from Oregon with others, researchers suggest the new strain most likely arose recently, parallel to the outbreak that began on Vancouver Island. So far it has killed five out of 21 patients analyzed in the United States, a nearly 25 percent mortality rate. Lab studies with immune cells and with live mice revealed it is extremely virulent — that is, it can cause severe disease.

Determining the exact origin of the VGIIc strain has proven difficult. Investigations so far have failed to find it in Oregon soil, water or trees. It may have arrived from abroad or originated locally,
researchers said.

Because this fungus had been confined to the tropics until now, researcher Wenjun Li at Duke University speculated that environmental changes might be responsible for the evolution and emergence of these new strains.

"We are trying to put together the evolutionary story of where these types come from by closely studying the genetics of all samples possible," explained researcher Yonathan Lewit at Duke University Medical Center.

It remains uncertain why VGIIc and VGIIa/major are more virulent than other strains. One possibility, given how this fungus can reproduce sexually, new hypervirulent combinations of genes emerged due to sex. The researchers also noted that cell components known as mitochondria in these strains could adopt a distinctive tube shape.

Since mitochondria help generate energy in cells, it is possible these strains are more energetic, "but that's just speculation right now," Byrnes said.

When it comes to a public response to outbreaks of these strains, "public health officials in that area have formed a working group with state epidemiologists from all those states in the Pacific Northwest," Byrnes noted. "It's important that public awareness expand on this."
The scientists detailed their findings online April 22 in the journal PLoS Pathogens.
